It's been 5 years since a landmark for generations, the Stewart's Root Beer on Route 37 just before the bridge into Seaside Heights, was demolished. Since then, though, Stewart's did of course return to Toms River in the form of an Ocean County mall stand.

Monmouth County recently experienced a similar loss when the Stewart's on Route 33 in Wall was knocked down.

While our neighbors to the north also lost a landmark, what took its place has mouths watering across the shore!

Thanks to the quick eyes of my colleague Liz Jeressi on our sister station 94.3 The Point, we know the newest stop at the Jersey Shore for some BBQ.

Smokehouse Grille now sits at the old Stewart's spot and proudly declares their "Authentic American BBQ" cuisine.

A quick look at their website shows that they have everything you'd expect from a BBQ joint - brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and more.

And I had to smile as I scrolled through their menu and spotted their homage to their Route 33 predecessor - yes, they also offer root beer floats.

Have you tried Smokehouse Grille yet? Stop by our Facebook page and tell us how it was!
