A Fantastic Night in Toms River to Light the Township Christmas Tree
It was a fantastic night in Downtown Toms River, for the annual lighting of the Toms River Township Christmas tree. It was a big crowd downtown and the chilly weather made it perfect for Santa's arrival. The event was hosted by the Downtown Toms River Business Improvement District and Toms River. Toms River Mayor Mo Hill was on hand along with Bob Shea and other members of the Township council to welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus and light the big courtyard Christmas tree.
The Downtown Toms River B.I.D. did a great job putting together the event, Melissa Fernandez and Director Mairin Bellack along with other B.I.D. members did a great job. There was face painting and balloons from For the Fun of It, Toms River Fire Company Number One provided hot chocolate and cookies, and Debbie O's had sweet treats for all.
Young and old and some furry friends all enjoyed the entertainment of the ceremony. There were several acts performed for the crowd. Choruses from Toms River High School South and Donovan Catholic performed holiday favorites. Theater group "More Chaos" sang and performed selections from their upcoming holiday show at Jackson Liberty High School. Singer Kelly Anne Servodio from Exit 82 Theatre Company in Toms River performed her version of "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve". The Applaud Our Kids Foundation (Lucas) performed instrumental holiday favorites on the saxophone. The night finished with the reading of "Twas' the Night Before Christmas" by Karla Iverson.
The evening finished with the arrival of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus and the lighting of the Toms River Township Christmas Tree.
Thanks to everyone who came out and welcome to the Holiday Season in Toms River. Merry Christmas from 92.7 WOBM
