A Benefit for Jersey Shore First Responders
Clearly we are in the midst of a very active hurricane season with the effects of Jose to be felt a bit today and he will be followed by Maria who could threaten the East Coast sometime next week.
Regardless it means we will be exposed to the two words which frequent just about every national TV newscast: ”breaking news.” That is heard often even if what follows those two words really isn’t breaking news. I think it’s now required that all TV anchors after saying “good evening” must follow with “breaking news.” Actually “breaking news” often goes before “good evening.” Whatever!
As we know weather forecasts are far from guaranteed but right now it looks like the first weekend of fall at the Jersey Shore will be more suited for a day at the beach then say a day working in your backyard.
As a matter of fact if the forecast is correct then Sunday would be a perfect day to take a ride over to South Seaside Park for a block party that will feature food, beer, music and more and will serve as a fundraiser for a trio of first responders.
Sponsored by Summer in the Park in conjunction with Bum Rogers Crabhouse, the Belvedere Motel and 3 C’s Luncheonette the 2nd Annual Block Party Fundraiser will benefit the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Department, Seaside Park PBA #182 and Berkeley Township PBA #237.
Sunday’s event runs from noon to 7 p.m. at 23rd and Central Avenue which is adjacent to Bum Roger’s and will feature food from Chef Mike’s ABG, Ebby’s Café Alfresco, PJ’s Place, Prime 13, Bum Rogers, 3 C’s, Savor, Europa South, Hemingways and Beacon 70. Entertainment will be provided by Bazooka Joe and the Bubble Gum Machine and The Eddie Testa Band.
Tickets are $25 in advance and available through the participating organizations as well as Bum Rogers, the Belvedere Motel and 3 C’s Luncheonette. Should be a fun afternoon and just as importantly serve as a valuable fundraiser for those who answer the call for the benefit of others.
