By order of Governor Christie, flags on New Jersey state buildings will be raised to half-staff Tuesday, July 25, in memory of Marine Corporal Daniel Baldassare of Colts Neck. The 2015 Colts Neck High School graduate was one of 16 victims in the July 10 crash of a KC-10 in Mississippi. Baldassare was a recipient of the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Service Defense Medal.

A Belmar day camp, running without state health certifications and with fire code violations, is ordered shut by Monmouth County Superior Court officials. Camp Emzee operators have an August 29 court date to answer allegations filed by the county Health Department. About 30 children in grades two through seven attend the camp.
