Modern Family is the Funniest Show on TV [Review]

Every once in a while, a sitcom is a culture impacting triumph. The 70's had All in the Family. In the 80's, Cheers ruled. And in the 90's sitcom heyday we had "Must see TV" with shows like Seinfeld and Friends, while Will & Grace bridged the late 90's to early 2000's.

Over the last couple of weeks I've been reading through Stieg Larsson's "Millennium Series" of books (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest). As I've been getting through the books, I've also been watching the Swedish versions of the film adaptations (all released in 2009). Last week, the highly anticipated American version was released.

It always seems to happen when the new TV seasons roll around, a bunch of new shows come around at the same time that all have similar concepts. Cop dramas, high school shows, superhero shows, etc. Usually, once the dust settles, only one comes out ahead.

When I think about it, I've always liked odd TV shows. I was a big fan of The X-Files back in the day. These days Dexter is one of my can't miss shows. And then I saw American Horror Story.
