Lakewood Tent City Dwellers Can Stay For Now, Says Judge

Homeless denizens of Lakewood's Tent City get a reprieve from eviction by an Ocean County Superior Court judge.

A consent order between the township and the homeless dwellers was issued this afternoon. If both sides agree to the terms, a resolution to the conflict could be in place by May 3.

That's the date that they've been ordered back to the courtroom to identify any remaining unresolved matters.

Among them are motions regarding the Ocean County Board of Social Services and the Atlantic City Rescue Mission. ACRM operators are seeking compensation from the County for money beyond their allocation that they say they've paid to house homeless people sent by Ocean County.
