Barnegat Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A Barnegat man is charged with attempted murder & aggravated assault after repeatedly hitting a man outside the Lighthouse Tavern on Route 9 in Waretown on Saturday night.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office says Michael Lombardo,36, was seen repeatedly striking Robert Bethanis, 44, of Barnegat with his hands and feet. He was unconscious when police arrived and taken via medical helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. He is listed in critical condition.

Lombardo was charged and sent to the Ocean County Jail and being held on $150,000 bail.
