Atlantic City Murder Victim Identified
A man fatally shot in Atlantic City Friday night is identified as 32-year-old Nelson Viera of the city, announced Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McCain.
According to a press release from the Prosecutor's Office, the victim was shot multiple times around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Texas and Arctic Avenues. Atlantic City police were alerted of the incident by the City's Shot Spotter gunfire detection software. The victim was transported to Atlantic Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Viera's death is Atlantic City’s third homicide this year, matching the total number of killings in all of 2013, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
