Bullet vs Apple: Who Survived a Shooting in New Jersey?
Hopefully, you will never have to survive a gunshot, and you won't have to thank a common household item for saving your life, but for one New Jersey man, this is exactly what happened when he was shot in Newark over an argument involving a scooter.

There's a good chance that as you head out today, you are grabbing your keys, coffee, sunglasses, and phone. For one New Jersey man, this possibly saved his life. According to Newark Police, two men got into an argument over a "scooter". This argument escalated and resulted in one person pulling a gun on the victim and firing one shot at him.
According to Patch, reports indicate that the victim of the shooting was saved because the gunman's bullet struck the victim where he had his iPhone stored, and the bullet struck the iPhone, and the man was saved by his cell phone, which deflected the bullet. Reports indicate that Newark Police found a single bullet following the incident.
According to authorities, “Police responded to a call about a shooting in progress on the 400-block of South 19th Street. When officers arrived, they located a victim who was not injured by the gunfire. At approximately 10:50 a.m., the victim and another individual argued and fought over the victim’s scooter. That person drew a gun and fired at the victim. The bullet struck an iPhone in the victim’s pocket, and officers recovered one bullet in the street.”
