Now that the long brewing rumors have been confirmed, and just today we've had official statements about the impending closure and/or sale of all U.S. Toys "R" Us stores, we're also getting a little more information about what that means to us, the consumers.

With almost 2 dozen locations in New Jersey, including right here in Toms River, there will surely be a rush of shoppers over the next few weeks as customers hurry to spend gift cards.

Earlier today, USAToday reported that if you're holding Toys "R" Us gift cards, you have 30 days to use them.

Pointing out that retailers aren't required to honor gift cards after going into bankruptcy, USAToday also suggests that time is of the essence because once the liquidation sales move forward in earnest, there likely won't be a whole lot worth spending them on anyway.

So get out there and use those Toys "R" Us gift cards! 30 days from now, they'll just be pieces of plastic.
