I’m tired.  I know that’s not a major development and not something anyone really cares about except me but when you’ve done this segment for as long as I have you tend to share things with your listeners.  Yesterday afternoon I was staring at my computer screen and struggling to stay awake and it’s not because I did not get a good night’s sleep the night before because I did.  Here are am again today and I’m still tired and it’s sort of been that way for a while.

For nearly 42 years I have dragged myself out of bed sometime between 2:30 and 3:30 in the morning and I think it’s taking its toll on me.  Most weeknights I get somewhere between 6-7 hours of sleep which is better than earlier in my career when that was rarely the case.  But I’m getting older and to be honest sleep is becoming a bit more precious.

Getting up is never the problem…I think I’ve only slept through an alarm a couple of times in the last decade.  However every day in the early afternoon I feel like I’ve hit a wall and want to shut my eyes.  Problem is I don’t have a couch in my office and while I might doze off for a few minutes the chair doesn’t really work.

Of course today is Friday and that means the work week is almost over.  What usually happens on Friday night is sometime in the early evening I will fall asleep in my chair while watching TV then get a  second wind and stay up until around midnight before going to sleep.  Even though I’ll likely sleep for the same 6-7 hours as during the week I will wake up on my own Saturday and feel much better.

So what’s the point of this?  There is none but I just wanted to let you know I’m tired.  Now that you’re tired of hearing me complain I hope you have a nice weekend.

PS-The couch in the picture is unfortunately not in my office!
