We are under a blizzard warning here at the Jersey Shore.

Along the coast this weekend we are going to be clobbered by snow in Ocean and Monmouth Counties and now a blizzard warning. I hear blizzard and let's face it, it's pretty scary.

Here's the timeline for the snowstorm from 92.7 WOBM Meteorologist Dan Zarrow:

--Friday evening (after 7 p.m.)... It's on like Donkey Kong. Initial snow bands will bubble up from the south, stretching throughout the state by late evening.

--Saturday morning (Midnight to Noon)... The brunt of the storm. Heaviest snow, fastest accumulations, and poorest road conditions will likely occur during this time frame. The winds will really get kicking too, with highest gusts during the daylight hours.

--Saturday afternoon (Noon to 5 p.m.)... Snow will gradually taper off from west to east. Additional (slow) accumulations are possible.

--Saturday evening (after 5 p.m.)... It's all over. As skies clear and winds calm, over a fresh snowpack, it's going to get bitterly cold by Sunday morning. Expect widespread temperatures in the single digits and wind chills potentially below zero.

What is a blizzard warning and what does it mean for Ocean County?

Thanks to our Meteorologist Dan Zarrow, he spells it out for us.

***A BLIZZARD WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MONMOUTH AND OCEAN COUNTIES, FROM 7 PM TONIGHT UNTIL 7 PM TOMORROW... HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS MAY REDUCE VISIBILITY TO NEAR-ZERO FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME... TRAVEL WILL BE DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE***

***THERE IS NOW LITTLE DOUBT THAT WE'VE GOT A LEGITIMATE SNOWSTORM ON OUR HANDS... TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION IS FORECAST TO REACH 12 TO 18+ INCHES FOR MOST... 8 TO 12 INCHES WELL INLAND***
***WIND GUSTS TO 40+ MPH FOR SEVERAL HOURS ON SATURDAY WILL RESTRICT VISIBILITY AND CAUSE SPORADIC POWER OUTAGES... MINOR COASTAL FLOODING MAY OCCUR AT HIGH TIDE SATURDAY MORNING... THE WIND CHILL WILL REACH "DANGEROUS COLD" TERRITORY, DIPPING BELOW ZERO SATURDAY NIGHT*** (A blizzard is defined as a heavy snowstorm with winds of more than 45+ MPH wind gusts.)
