Whiting man suffers back and shoulder injuries in motorcycle accident
A Whiting man is recovering after being airlifted to the hospital Saturday when he lost control of his motorcycle trying to make a turn onto McMahon Avenue in Manchester Township around 12:08 pm.
Police say 74-year old Dennis J. Durow was heading south on Route 539 when his 1999 Honda Valkyrie left the roadway, hit a stop-sign and then flipped over, tossing him from the motorcycle.
He was taken by medivac to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment back and shoulder injuries.
Durow was wearing a DOJ approved helmet.
Assisting at the scene were members of the Whiting Volunteer First Aid Squad as well as paramedics from MONOC.
The crash remains under investigation by Patrolman Ian Bole of the Manchester Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
With the onset of the warm weather and increased amount of traffic, Manchester Police reminds motorists to watch out of motorcycles and encourage all motorcyclists to always wear a DOT approved helmet and equipment when riding.
