Where Do You Go For Your Morning Coffee Fix?
Today I’m talking coffee so let’s call this segment “coffee talk.” I am a one-cup-a-day drinker and that cup always comes in the morning. We have never had a coffee maker at home, outside of a very short period in which we had a Keurig that was never used and eventually given to my son.
For many years when WOBM was located in Bayville I would stop at the Pine Beach 7-11 for my morning coffee fix. I liked 7-11 coffee and was very content until Dunkin Donuts opened up a drive-thru like 500 yards away. Now I could get my coffee without even leaving the car and I quickly became addicted to DD so much so that I would stop at the 7-11 for the newspaper and then stop again at Dunkin for my large, cream with two Splenda morning beverage.
This was the ritual for years but at around the time of the pandemic they changed their hours and did not open the drive-thru until 4am (or later) which was often too late for me so I needed another option. QuickChek had just opened a new store on Route 9 in Beachwood which was a perfect location for me and it just so happened I really liked the coffee…plus I could get the newspaper and do it all in one stop and the crew is really friendly. In addition I am down on Dunkin ever since they replaced the Styrofoam cups with thin paper ones and sippy-cup lids with built-in plugs which I don’t like at all.
So for those reasons I now stop in to QuickChek each weekday morning before 4am, fill my 20-ounce Yeti tumbler and I’m all set. Once in a while I will have a second cup from somewhere later in the day for that’s pretty much my caffeine story. Everyone has their own coffee preference, whether they make it at home, stop at Wawa, QuickChek, 7-11, Dunkin or somewhere else. I do know this and that is my morning would not be the same without coffee.
PS-I hit Dunkin Donuts up on the weekend!
