I won’t bore you with details about my morning routine and how I have certain things that have to be done at a certain time and anything that gets in the way can prove to be a major obstacle.

Actually many of you know what I mean because it’s no different for you at home, whether it’s getting yourself ready for work or maybe your children off to school.  A 10-minute interruption can throw your entire schedule off whack and result in somebody being late.

Anyway as I turned on my computer this morning at 4am to begin my morning routine I quickly noticed there was a problem.  No access to my work system or the internet as our server was down.  Turns out our Chief Engineer was in the building and I ran upstairs and was told by him it was a corporate issue so he had no timetable for when the problem would be fixed.

So I sat in front of my computer screen with the knowledge that my morning was already off to a bad start which would be equal to you oversleeping and scrambling to catch up.  Fortunately my phone provided me the information I needed to put together a sports report I do for one of our other radio stations but of course there was a problem.

When I went to print what I had written I received “Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup.”  Just as I was ready to panic I found a solution: a little used printer in my office was hooked up in a different fashion and worked so I was back on track.

Of course there is no way of knowing how long our system will be down. By the time you hear this we could be back up and running or I’ll be sipping coffee in my office wondering what to do.  Either way I have a funny feeling about today but I don’t know if it’s a bad or good feeling.

Wait a second, we have a lottery pool for tonight’s $1.6 billion Mega Millions.  Oh baby bring it home!
