When Does Spring Really Begin?

We are about to get our first real stretch of spring-like weather and it could not be better for students, teachers and those who work in schools as most are off for spring break beginning today.  Tomorrow will be bit of a tease with temperatures reaching the 80’s in some places…however after that we are pretty much in the 60’s for the rest of the month.  While it will be shorts season for some like me others will not quite be ready to break out clothes for warmer weather.

I have spoken with many in recent weeks and we all agree that the calendar has unofficially changed.  Spring is supposed to last from March 20 until June 21 which like the other seasons is three months long.  However at least in recent years it seems like the weather doesn’t really get nicer until May and then BOOM…summer arrives.  Meanwhile at the back end we get nicer weather in September, October and even November.  This clearly could be a case of an old guy whose memory has faded but at least I have company.

I am sure quite a few places will be open in Seaside Heights/Park and Point Pleasant Beach if you plan on taking a boardwalk stroll.  Restaurants, bars, stores, arcades and games will get a spring break boost with some nicer weather and so many looking for something to do. Just remember it is often 7-10 degrees cooler at the beach depending on the wind direction.  This is also the weekend you can purchase discount tickets for use during the summer season at Casino Pier and Breakwater Beach in Seaside Heights and Jenkinson's Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach.
