Video Of Daring Ice Rescue In Monmouth County

It is a scary and dangerous situation, and sometimes it can be fatal. I'm talking about being stuck on the water in winter, and the ice you are on is breaking. Falling through ice can be tragic, and it can be extremely hard for first responders to rescue the victim, depending on the particular situation.

This incident in Monmouth County took place Monday and West Long Branch Police answered the call and one officer made the daring rescue in the icy waters to save the child. According to Patch, West Long Branch Patrolman Dave Brosonski jumped into icy Franklin Lake to save the 11-year-old boy.

 

 

The heroic rescue was caught on video, and we have footage from CBS 2 New York that was posted on YouTube.

According to Patch, "The boy was alone, walking home from school, and he may have been trying to take a shortcut across the frozen pond when he fell through the ice, said police."

The boy was treated at a nearby hospital. According to reports the boy was submerged in icy water up to his shoulders and stated he could not feel his limbs when police rescued him.

A truly heroic rescue by the West Long Branch Police and the swift action of Patrolman Dave Brosonski.

Be careful this winter and never go onto unsupervised ice it can be extremely dangerous and should be avoided. Avoid ice and play it safe.
