Water Company Helps Boost Military Support Group
It was more than three years ago that I did a segment on “Always Supporting Our Military” which is a true grass roots organization made up of all local volunteers who get together regularly and put together packages to send to our military members overseas. Those packages contain food, snacks, toiletries and more with most if not all of those items donated or through fundraising. A 501c3 organization one of their most significant costs was postage with each package costing about $20 to ship.
Well I have an update and it’s a good one and if there was ever a time we could use some good news this is it. This group of retirees received a visit earlier this week from three senior employees of Suez Water…Director of Operations Jim Mastrokalos, Vice President of Union Local 503 Brett Stierle and Public Affairs Manager Jane Kunka. The trio showed up at the home of director Barbara Youmans with a box of supplies and a check for $1000 which will cover postage for 50 packages. That monetary donation from Suez Water and Union Local 503 certainly put a smile on the faces of the dedicated volunteers.
The odds are pretty good you are not very familiar with “Always Supporting Our Military” but you should and can make a real impact with any type of donation. I’ve seen some of the letters they receive back from members of our military stationed overseas and they are heartwarming and filled with gratitude.
