This is so cool and a great idea for Toms River families.

FREE seedlings will be handed out to Toms River residents from NJ State Forest Service's Tree Recovery Campaign. The seedling giveaway will take place Saturday, April 24th, 2021, according to patch.com.

There will be two locations in Toms River for the seedling handouts. Handouts will be April 24th at the Third Avenue parking lot in Ortley and Riverwood Park off of Whitesville Road. Tree seedlings are first come, first served from 10 am to 2 pm.

There was a goal made in 2019 to distribute 600,000 tree seedlings to New Jersey residents. The goal was for in 7 years since 2019 hand out tree seedlings but because of Superstorm Sandy, so many of our beautiful trees in Ocean County and beyond were destroyed. It's time to grow some more beautiful trees here in New Jersey.

With the disbursement of tree seedlings, volunteers at the two Toms River locations, ask that you stay in your car and they will bring the seedlings to you in the car or pop your trunk.

Tree facts:

*Trees produce oxygen.

*Trees can live for thousands of years.

*Planting trees can help eliminate erosion.

*The roots of a tree usually grow underground and the trunk is protected by its bark.

The seedlings program is thanks to the New Jersey Forestry Service, New Jersey Soil Conservation Districts, the Arbor Day Foundation, Toms River Township, and so many more.

What an awesome way to help the environment and plant together as a family.
