Walmart offering senior only shopping hours amid COVID-19 pandemic
BENTONVILLE, AR — The Walmart Corporation is the latest grocery store chain to announce that they will be offering hours dedicated to senior citizens, according to a statement released by the company early this morning.
"In unprecedented times like these, we're doing everything we can to serve thousands of communities across the U.S."
All Walmart locations have recently reconstructed their operating hours to make sure that they have enough time to restock their shelves for the increase in demand on paper products and lean meats.
Locations that were usually open for 24 hours are now only accessible from 7:00 AM until 8:30 PM, Monday through Sunday, for the general public.
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Walmart will be opening up its doors an hour earlier at 6:00 AM for senior citizens (ages 60+) to prevent the spread of the virus to the most at-risk population.
The change takes effect today, March 24th, and will last until April 28th, "It will start one hour before stores open to the public, and pharmacies will be available during this time, as well," the statement said.
The statement concludes that the vision center will also be open earlier for senior citizens, but exclusively for emergency care only.
