TRAFFIC UPDATE: Garden State Parkway and Route 9 Have Been RE-OPENED 

LACEY TOWNSHIP POLICE:

Fire Operations Update :
All evacuation orders have been lifted. Residents are free to return to their homes. Use caution when traveling in the area as heavy smoke conditions remain in the area.

OCEAN TOWNSHIP POLICE:

Evacuation Update: Effective immediately ALL mandatory evacuation orders are being lifted. You may return to your residences.
This order includes Brookville and all the residences west of the Garden State Parkway all the way to Route 9 ( Greenbriar, Laurelwyke, Birchwood, Cornerstone, Dogtown and anyone else that was mandated to evacuate.)
OCEAN TOWNSHIP POLICE:
Structural Update: all businesses and residences in town are in tact. We had no reports of any damage caused by the fire to any structures within Ocean Township at this time. Lacey Township experienced some structural damage.
State of Emergency declared for Ocean County
Acting Gov. Tahesha Way has declared a state of emergency for Ocean County. This is mainly to cut through some red tape to move resources into the affected area.

Fire details from the latest updates from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service

New Jersey Forest Fire Service remains on the scene of a wildfire burning in Ocean & Lacey Townships, Ocean County.

  • 8,500 acres are involved in the fire
  • 10% containment (as per last update 10:55 pm)
  • 1,320 structures threatened along Bryant Road and Wells Mills Road, - Rt 532
  • 3,000 RESIDENTS EVACUATED
  • Rt 532 (Wells Mills Road) From Rt 72 and the GSP
  • Bryant Road is closed from Wells Mills Road (Rt 532) and Rt 539
  • Jones Road is closed between Route 532 and Bryant Road

New Jersey Forest Fire Service:

New Jersey Environmental Protection Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23 at Coyle Field Air Base, 1052 Route 72, Chatsworth, Burlington County, to provide a status update on the Jones Road Wildfire burning in Ocean & Lacey Townships, Ocean County.
