United Water Toms River customers who've been unsure where to go for service matters and bill-paying since Superstorm Sandy ravaged the company's office last October, now have a new destination.

The firm's customer service, operations, maintenance and senior management departments are now open at 1451 Route 37 West, Suite Two. It's the former site of the Asbury Park Press's Toms River offices. A dedication ceremony is scheduled for mid-November.

A company spokesman says the move from Adafre Avenue is the first since United Water's precursor company settled into the township a century ago.

"The move into our new site is a tremendous accomplishment for our employees, our customers and the communities we serve," said Director of Operations Jim Mastrokalos in a prepared release. "We are back under one roof and we can fully focus on providing superior service to the residents and businesses that rely on us for their drinking water."

Staffers temporarily reopened the 115-year-old Adafre Avenue site for upper management in March after extensive renovations. The first floor was never rendered usable again.

Affixed to the new center's exterior is a drop box for bill payments any time of the day or night. During business hours, customers can speak to company representatives through a phone in the front lobby.

The United Water Toms River web site also has registration space for e-Billing.

Three businesses in the township also serve as payment points for customers:

  • Ocean Check Cashing, 970 Lakewood Road, Toms River, accepts cash or money orders. The phone number there is 732-244-2814.
  • Bombay Food, 943 Route 166, Toms river, accepts cash. The shop's number is 732-286-2233.
  • Quick Food, 370 Dover Road, South Toms River, accepts cash or personal checks. The store can be reached at 732-240-2092.

United Water Toms River services Toms River, South Toms River and Berkeley Township.
