Union Beach man charged with DUI in Middletown pedestrian accident
A Union Beach man is facing a laundry list of charges from Middletown Police after hitting a pedestrian on Wednesday night around 7:51 pm near Everett Road and Yale Drive in the Lincroft section of the township.
Middletown Police say a 14 year old male whose identity is not being released, sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries and was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment by Holmdel First Aid.
The driver, Nicholas J. Andrews, 19, of Union Beach, was arrested and issued summonses for Assault with a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence, Possession of Marijuana in an Amount Less than 50 Grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian, and Failure to Use Headlamps.
The crash was investigated by Patrolwoman Stephanie Burke and members of the Middletown Township Police Traffic Safety Unit.
