The 52-foot Hakuna Matata, registered to Crosslake, Minnesota, was about six miles offshore when the USCG Sector Delaware Bay command post in Philadelphia fielded a report at about 10 AM today, officials said.

A crew aboard a 45-foot response boat sped from the Cape May station and started pumping water from the listing craft.

The pumps kept neck-and-neck pace with the water spilling into the vessel as it was towed to the Canyon Club in Cape May Harbor, with no injuries or pollution reported, Guard officials said.

Petty Officer Tyler Fontaine, coxswain in the mission, said that quick action aboard the yacht prevented a much worse outcome.

"The crew aboard the recreational vessel noticed something was wrong and immediately notified Coast Guard watchstanders from their VHF marine radio on Channel 16," Fointaine said. "We were able to quickly escort them to safety and dewater their vessel because of their fast actions."
