Two men dressed up as FedEx workers to steal Waretown homeowners packages
Two men who dressed up as Fed-Ex workers in order to steal packages from people's doorsteps in Waretown are arrested on Tuesday.
Ocean Township Police (Ocean County) followed up on a report of a suspicious white cargo van with two males inside heading along the Bryant road area in the Bay Haven section around 12:00 pm.
Police tracked down the suspects and their vehicle to the CVS Pharmacy parking lot on Route 9 in Waretown.
That's where Jomar Gonzalez, 28, of Paterson, New Jersey and Raymond Severino, 23, of Bridgeport, Connecticut were found wearing FedEx uniforms and told officers they worked for the company.
Police quickly figured out that wasn't true.
Officers then determined that Gonzalez and Severino allegedly conspired to steal already delivered packages from the doorsteps of Waretown residents while they were dressed as FedEx employees and operating a rented white van.
Gonzalez is charged with 2C:35-10A(1) Possession of CDS, 2C:21-17A(2) Impersonation; Theft of Identity and 2C:5-2A(1) Conspiracy and was given several motor vehicle related summonses.
Severino is charged with 2C:5-2A(1) Conspiracy and 2C: 21-17A (2) Impersonation and Theft of Identity.
Both were processed at police headquarters and transported to the Ocean County Jail in default of bail.
The public is reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations, and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
