Two dogs die following Sunday fire in Stafford

Stafford Police Detectives are working with the Ocean County Fire Marshal and Stafford Bureau of Fire Prevention to investigate the cause of a Sunday afternoon fire on Inboard Avenue.

Police responded to the residence in the Ocean Acres section of the township around 3:30 pm for a report of a structure fire.

When officers arrived they spotted smoke coming from the residence and they were able to quickly determine that there were no residents inside the home.

However, two dogs were treated with oxygen and then transported to the Lakewood Animal Hospital.

Sadly both dogs later passed away.

The fire remains under investigation.

The Stafford, Barnegat and Lacey Township Fire Companies responded as well as the Stafford and Barnegat EMS.
