What New Jerseyans need to know about traveling with the REAL ID.

One of the biggest changes for New Jersey travelers is the REAL ID. The REAL ID requirements are now being enforced at New Jersey and all American airports at the airport security checkpoints.

The REAL ID guidelines went into effect last month. There are no obligations for New Jereyans to get their REAL ID if they have an alternate form of identification that meets the REAL ID standards when traveling. Two options if you don't have a REAL ID when traveling that most travelers have is their U.S. passport or U.S. passport card.

TSA officials warn Costco cards DO NOT COUNT as one of the options when traveling.

From the TSA, Transportation Security Administration Facebook page: "We love hotdogs & rotisserie chickens as much as the next person but please stop telling people their Costco card counts as a REAL ID because it absolutely does not."
