Toms River woman given summonses for causing accident on West Water Street
A Toms River woman is facing charges for being at fault in an accident on West Water Street Wednesday afternoon around 5:15 pm.
Police say Jade Somers, 17, of Seaside Heights was heading south and trying to turn into Ocean Medical Center on West Water Street when she collided with Lori Adkins, 30, who was heading north and driving on the shoulder trying to pass a vehicle making a left onto Adafre Avenue.
The driver of the uninvolved vehicle had waved Somers on to turn into the parking lot.
A preliminary police investigation revealed that Adkins improperly and unlawfully passed on the roadway shoulder causing the traffic collision.
Adkins was issued a summons for improper passing.
