Toms River Moves Trick-or-Treating Due to the Weather, Updates on Trick-or-Treating and the Parade
With a nor’easter expected to roll in tomorrow for New Jersey, many Toms River residents and and surrounding towns have been wondering what this means for Halloween celebrations.

Mayor Daniel T. Rodrick has officially announced that Trick-or-Treating in Toms River will now take place on Saturday, November 1st, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the holiday safely and comfortably once the storm passes.
Halloween Traditions Still Marching On
Every year, Halloween in Toms River is a big deal especially with our world-famous Halloween Parade lighting up downtown on October 31st. And while the parade will still march on as planned on Friday, October 31st, 2025, the Mayor and township officials decided that moving Trick-or-Treating was the best way to keep kids, parents, and neighbors safe with rain and strong winds expected on Thursday.
🎃 For New Residents, A Little Local History
For new residents to the area of Toms River and surrounding towns, Trick or Treat is always the day before Halloween on the 30th of October, because of the Halloween parade on October 31st every year.
“Safety always comes first,” Mayor Rodrick shared. “We want our children and families to enjoy Halloween without having to worry about the weather.”
This change gives families a chance to celebrate Halloween in calmer conditions — and on a weekend, too! Parents won’t have to rush home from work, and kids can take their time visiting more houses and showing off their costumes.
The Updated Halloween Plan for Toms River and Surrounding Towns
So, here’s the plan: the Toms River Halloween Parade is still happening on Thursday, October 31st, and Trick-or-Treating has been moved to Saturday, November 1st.
Town officials remind residents to keep an eye on the official Toms River Township website and local updates in case the weather brings any additional changes.
Even though Mother Nature’s trying to crash the party, Toms River is ready to keep the Halloween spirit alive safely, joyfully, and full of spooky fun! 🎃
