Toms River School Bus Driver Hurt, Ticketed in Parking Lot Crash
A school bus driver for the Toms River district emerges with minor injuries after losing control of her vehicle in the parking lot of High School North and hitting three parked cars Monday afternoon, say township police.
Authorities say no students were aboard at 4:23 PM when the incident unfolded in the lot adjacent to Old Freehold Road..
Barbara Revel, 61, of Whiting, told police that she was awaiting students to board, released the brake, began to move, then found herself unable to stop the bus as it rolled on into the cars.
However, police said, the responding officer didn't find her explanation credible.
Revel was treated for minor arm pain at Community Medical Center in Toms River and ticketed for careless driving.
The Toms River district maintains its own fleet and no trouble with the brake lines were suspected, police said.
