Toms River, NJ man critically injured in two vehicle crash on Route 571 in Manchester, NJ
A Toms River man is in critical condition after suffering internal injuries during a two-vehicle crash between Route 70 and Route 571 in Manchester Township around 4:43 pm on Thursday afternoon.
The details of the car crash and investigation were announced by the Manchester Township Police Department.
Through their preliminary investigation, Manchester Police said that the driver of a silver 2016 Acura TLX, Daniel Dobos, 45, of Toms River, was in the left turn lane on Route 70 looking to turn left onto Route 571 while the driver of a red 2017 Ford Mustang, Py Kaung, 24, of Brick, was heading eastbound on Route 70 at the time.
As Kaung was entering the intersection in his Ford Mustang, Dobos started turning left onto Route 571 in his Acura TLX and as that happened, the Ford Mustang struck the Acura TLX on the front driver's side of the vehicle.
Police said that as a result of that collision, the Ford Mustang spun about 90-degrees and then came to a stop in the intersection facing northbound while the Acura TLX also spun 90-degrees and stopped facing southbound in the intersection.
Dobos suffered internal injuries and was medevacked to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City, police said, and is listed in critical condition.
Kaung did not sustain any injuries in the crash, police said.
The two vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon remains under investigation but as of now police said that "failure to yield to oncoming traffic appears to be the contributing factor at this point."
