A Toms River is being treated for minor injuries but he'll soon be heading to court for driving under the influence when he caused a 3-car collision on Route 70 in Whiting on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester Police say 57-year old Samuel Anderson was heading east in a white 2006 Volvo S40 when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser head-on causing it to head off road and overturn.

Anderson kept on going and struck a silver 2013 Hyundai Genesis causing it to spin off the road as well.

Following the accident Anderson was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and evaluation of non-life threatening injuries.

He was then found in possession of CDS and suspected to be driving while under the influence.

Police said he was also not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Chrysler, 46-year old Christopher Monroe of Manchester, was transported via medevac helicopter to JSUMC for treatment and evaluation of non- life threatening injuries.

The Hyundai was occupied by the driver, 69-year old Judith F. Barnett, and the front seat passenger, 60- year old Cydney K. Savage, both of Camden.

Savage was transported to Deborah Heart and Lung Center for treatment and evaluation of non-life threatening injuries.

They were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, but at this point, police said that driver impairment is the primary cause of the crash.

Ptl. Jesse Hoydis and Ptl. Michael Anderson of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit are investigating the crash.
