I stumbled across an article from The Digest Online (New Jersey Digest) that focused on selecting the best spot to grab a donut in Jersey. "Yelp recently analyzed customer reviews to determine the top donut shop in the Garden State. While we’re not typically Yelpers, we were undoubtedly curious about which shop took the crown. The review site used insights to help reveal which spot stands above the rest."

I enjoy a good plain-style donut. The base of the sweet treat needs to be a good old-fashioned-style donut, and then you can add to that. I like a nice glaze, which can come in various flavors, so I am pretty easy to please. Some people like more complex donuts with lots of extras and flavor, so the choice for New Jersey seems to cover the call for folks.

According to the Yelp data that The Digest Online reviewed, the winner of the BEST title resides at the Jersey Shore and may not surprise folks from Ocean County. "The winner? None other than Uncle Dood’s in Toms River. It’s nice to see a Jersey staple and its owner, Dominic Livolsi, receive the recognition. At Uncle Dood’s, every donut is made fresh. Each donut is fried, iced, and topped on the spot with seasonal and monthly flavor choices."

I have had Uncle Dood's Donuts many times, and they are always very good. We are fortunate to have many great donut and coffee shops here in New Jersey. What's your favorite?
