10th Most Read Covid Article...15 Charged as Ocean County Prosecutors, Lakewood Police Break Up Funeral With 70 People. (11,717 page views), Story Date: April 2, 2020.

The message of stay home, don't partake in social gatherings hadn't yet sunk in or been acknowledged by certain individuals in Ocean County.

On April 1, Lakewood Police responded to a large gathering on the corner of 8th Street and Madison Avenue for what turned out to be a funeral where between 60 and 70 people were assembled.

This gathering was in violation of Executive Order No. 107 signed by Governor Phil Murphy on March 21 which banned gatherings of individuals, whether they be at weddings, parties, celebrations, or other social events including funerals.

As Lakewood Police Officers tried to disperse the crowd, the crowd "became unruly and argumentative."

Backup had to be then called in with additional Officers from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office arriving to assist with dispersing the crowd.

As the Officers were collecting names from funeral attendees, one man refused to properly and truthfully identify who he really was.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said that several individuals were charged with Violating Any Rule or Regulation Adopted by the Governor During a State of Emergency.

This incident followed a string of unlawful behavior including an engagement party that was broken up the previous Tuesday and a Bat Mitzvah earlier in that week on Sunday.

10th Most Watched Covid Video....Monmouth County Opens Up Six Free Covid-19 Test Sites. (1,733 Video Views), Story Date: July 21, 2020.

Despite a slight rise in positive Covid-19 coronavirus cases in Monmouth County at this point in July, there's had been a positive trend overall and so to prevent further spread and keep things heading in the right direction, the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders announced at a press conference that they were opening up six new testing sites.

Monmouth County Freeholders appropriated $250,000 from the $108-million they received in Federal CARES Act funding to open up testing sites in some of the more densely populated municipalities of Asbury Park, Freehold Borough, Keansburg, Neptune, Long Branch and Red Bank where residents may also have trouble finding a site that's also free to get swabbed.

"Timely and accurate testing is critical for our trackers to know where Covid is and how we can stop it in its tracks," Monmouth County Freeholder Deputy Director Sue Kiley, said.

Freeholder Kiley, who is also the liaison to the Monmouth County Health Department said that the MCHD will be administering the Covid-19 tests and providing the tracking service to anyone who does test positive for the coronavirus.

At each of the six free sites, there was be only 100 tests administered per day at each location but on the plus side you don't need to make an appointment.

"There are no appointments necessary, there is no cost, you do not need a prescription, you just need to know that you're healthy. You come in, you get tested and you get your results," Kiley said. "All residents that do come in are going to have to provide their contact information for us so that we can get back to you and let you know what your result was. You also don't have to be symptomatic to come in and have a test, you just have to want to be checked."
