The Bright Colors of Spring
The warm weather may not have settled in just yet but there is no question spring is here and count me among those who has a little extra bounce in their step.
Grass is starting to grow, trees and bushes are getting greener, flowers are blooming and yes allergy sufferers will tell you tree pollen has also arrived. While we’ve had our share of very cool mornings we’re now mainly in the 60s during the day and before too long we’ll hit 70 on a regular basis.
To me the best part about real spring weather is winter is officially in our rear view mirror and so are winter clothes. I spent more than 3 hours on Sunday putting away pants, shirts, sweaters, shoes and socks. Brown, grey and navy are out and it’s time to welcome yellow, beige, white, light blue and yes even pink.
Polo short sleeve shirts and shorts instead of long sleeves and long pants…well not completely but you get the point. Topsiders and summer sneakers have returned to my closet and socks for the most part are a thing of the past. Light has replaced heavy and bright has replaced dark. Coats are now in storage and soon even light jackets won’t be needed. It is a beautiful thing.
I leave the house early in the morning when it’s still dark outside and I truly hate getting bundled up to be greeted by a cold winter blast. However with the arrival of warmer weather it takes less time to get dressed (no layers needed) and I welcome stepping outside to more comfortable conditions.
Look I know this is all rather trivial but putting away winter clothes has to be one of my favorite days of the year. There clearly is no doubt I was meant to live in a warmer climate but for now I’ll just settle for what we have here for the next six months or so.
