We're all hearing a lot of space stuff in the past week or so with Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson taking themselves into space, and we all know that one of the most famous astronauts to ever live, Buzz Aldrin, is a Jersey boy, but have you met the astronaut that was born in Neptune City? well, you're about to.
When you hear about an astronaut who did amazing things in the space program and find out he was born in Neptune City, you naturally want to know more about him. So say hello to Russell "Rusty" Schweickart.
According to the NASA website, Rusty was on of the astronauts named in the fall of 1963, and he did some exciting amazing things. Let's check out just some of them.
He was the lunar module pilot for Apollo 9 (the first manned flight of the lunar module).
On that flight during an EVA, he tested the life support backpack that would eventually be used on the surface of the moon.
He was the backup commander for Skylab in 1973.
He transmitted the first live TV pictures from space, and was awarded a National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Special Trustees Award (Emmy) in 1969 it.
After graduating Manasquan High School, he went on to MIT to receive a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree.

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
