‘Thank You’ Temporarily Replaces ‘Red White & Brew’
One of my favorite annual fundraisers has been the “Red, White and Brew” Wine Tasting event that for the past 14 years was held at the Toms River Country Club to benefit the J. Phillip Citta Regional Cancer Center at Community Medical Center.
Sponsored by the CMC Foundation it was a kick off to summer that included wine and beer tastings, raffles, prizes, music and food from area restaurants who donated their time and talents. The event had helped raise more than $1 million over the years and was originally scheduled for today.
Obviously it can’t take place this year but the foundation is partnering with local restaurants who have been part of this event in the past on a new fundraiser to help expand programs in all areas of cancer prevention, detection and treatment right in our own backyard.
The first of six “Thank You Thursdays” takes place today at Artisan’s Restaurant & Brewery on Hooper Avenue in Toms River. A portion of all take-out and delivery orders today (12 noon -8 p.m.) will be donated to the regional cancer center in Toms River and this will continue every Thursday through July 2. As part of this fundraising effort the CMC Foundation is also selling raffle tickets with the winning ones to be drawn at the final “Thank You Thursdays” event at The Office Lounge on July 2nd.There is a 50/50 cash raffle for $100 and a second one for $20 with jewelry from Corrine Jewelers as the prize.
