I hope you had a safe and successful 2021 summer!

Times flies! It feels like it was yesterday we were kicking off Memorial Day Weekend broadcasting LIVE on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. The 94.3 The Point team truly appreciates having the opportunity to broadcast every Friday & Saturday from the boardwalk throughout the summer. We have been doing shows about one hundred yards away from Convention Hall for almost ten years! It would not be possible if it wasn't for the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce and the awesome team at New Jersey Natural Gas.

Seriously, an Asbury Park boardwalk radio studio?! How cool is that!

Now that we are wrapping up our boardwalk broadcasts for the 2021 season, it is totally necessary that I highlight the Asbury Park police & lifeguards. Two thankless jobs that need to be talked about...

Starting with the police. Asbury Park has become one of the most popular Jersey Shore towns and during the summer, the beach is filled with thousands of unique people. Some beachgoers are local, but many people come from all over the place. For example, a couple from Switzerland stopped by to say hello at our studio earlier this summer. The Asbury Park Police really does a fantastic job welcoming everybody. They give their best effort to keep everyone on the beach and on the boardwalk safe. They are helpful, friendly, and it's clear they let people enjoy their stay in Asbury Park. It always feels nice to get a wave from the police when they walk or drive past our studio. Thank you to the Asbury Park Police! Thank you for making thousands and thousands of people feel safe in a unique environment...

Let's not forget about the lifeguards. I can't tell you how many people have come up to the boardwalk studio asking for a bandaid. I always send them to the lifeguards. You might think they just sit in the sun and relax all day, but the job is a lot tougher than that! They are on the beach bright and early before anyone even steps foot on the sand. They check the tides, currents, and they are the main reason why Asbury Park has one of the safest swinging beaches at the Jersey Shore. They are also just great human beings. Thank you to the lifeguards who put the time and effort in, your dedication does not go unnoticed.

My last boardwalk broadcast will be on Saturday, October 2nd from 10-3 pm. We will be there for the Zombie Walk. See you there, I can't wait! - Jimmy G

Asbury Park?! Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
