Teenager arrested for role in Asbury Park, NJ man’s murder on Prospect Avenue
A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged for his role in the murder of 19-year-old Dariel Vernet in Asbury Park last week, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.
The name of the arrestee is being withheld, Acting Prosecutor Linskey explained, because he is a minor.
Nevertheless, he has had juvenile complaints of murder and two related weapons offenses filed against him following his arrest and he remains in custody, pending his next court appearance.

Vernet of Asbury Park, who had sustained multiple gunshot injuries, was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he died about an hour later.
Acting Prosecutor Linskey said that the investigation was led by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Bureau and Asbury Park Police Department.
