Surf City house inferno under investigation
A blaze that tore through a Surf City house before dawn today remains under investigation, as police and fire inspectors root out the cause and origin.
The fire on Division Avenue was reported at about 3:21 AM, and by the time borough firefighters arrived, it was fully enveloped in flames, police said, adding that it was unoccupied and no one sustained injuries.
Surf City firefighters knocked back the blaze with assistance from the Long Beach Island and Stafford Township fire departments, but not before adjoining houses took external damage from the heat and flames, police said.
Surf City tax records indicate that the dwelling, built in 1960, belongs to Richard and Jean Yoder of West Chester, Pennsylvania.
