Each spring the United States Postal Service holds its annual "Stamp Out Hunger" drive and is again asking residents to leave a bag of food donations on the curb by the mail box this Saturday to help struggling families in their communities.

Al Manzo, food driver coordinator at the Toms River Post Office, said they're partnering with the Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties, to help restock supplies dried up after the holidays.

"Last year we collected over 30,000 pounds of food at the Toms River Post Office alone," said Manzo.

This is the 24th year Postal Carriers will be collecting the bags with help from volunteers from the Food Bank, according to Manzo.

Manzo said whatever food items residents can stuff in the bag will be greatly appreciated.

"You have no idea the people who need it and the people who are struggling can be your next door neighbor, you just don't even realize it," Manzo said.

Residents can also leave the bag of food donations on their front porch pick up this Saturday.
