Marlboro-- A small engine pilot is expected to recover after his plane crashed into a small field near School Road and Oak Lane Saturday afternoon.

No passengers were aboard the plan and no fire was ignited from the crash which remains under investigation.

While the pilot's condition is unknown as of Sunday morning. His identity was not disclosed by Marlboro Police who said he sustained a leg injury as a result of the crash and was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune by the Marlboro First Aid.

Marlboro police received the call of the plane crashing just after 1pm Saturday afternoon, as an FAA spokeswoman confirmed the identity of the aircraft to be a Luscombe 8A.

Investigators add that no property damage occurred as a result of the accident as details continue to come in.

Assisting Marlboro police on the scene were Colts Neck police, the Marlboro Fire Department, Marlboro First Aid Squad and MONOC Paramedics and the investigation will be handled by the National Transportation Safety Board.
