Six Shore Towns Divide $29M in FEMA Disaster Loans
Toms River, its fire district, and five Monmouth communities get $29,700,00 in federal financial support to bridge revenue gaps during Superstorm recovery.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is dispensing the funds through its Community Disaster Loan program. The money covers ongoing expenses such as wages for police, firefighters and teachers.

- Toms River Fire District, $1,550,078
- Keansburg, $3,954,766
- Atlantic Highlands, $2,108,876
- Little Silver, $1,829, 324
- Oceanport, $1,154,931
- Sea Bright, $1,297,273
FEMA activated the Disaster Assistance Direct Loan Program in New Jersey on Governor Christie's request. Recipients are forbidden from using the loans for capital projects, or as a cost share for any federal grants.
