Shore Conference Tournament - Quarterfinals

4-CBA 8, 5-Southern 3

Junior attackmen Brendan Donnelly and Nick Blalock each scored twice and sophomore goalie Brandon DeSena made 10 saves as the Colts used a great defensive performance to smother the Rams and return to the SCT semifinals.

Aidan Guinnessey added a goal and an assist and Sean Tennyson, Hayden Kelly, and Ryan Martin each scored once. The pole unit of Peter Canterino, Ryan Caufield, Quinn Kelly, and Luke Krebs along with defensive midfielders Max Avrillon, Packy Quinn, and Tennyson combined to hold Southern to its second-lowest goal output of the season.

Senior attackman Jack Kolbe scored twice, junior midfielder Joey DeYoung scored once, and senior goalie Tyler Sininsky made 10 saves for Southern.

CBA will play at top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven in the semifinals at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

 

2-Manasquan 20, 7-Howell 5

Howell jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead but Manasquan quickly restored order and closed the game on a 20-3 run to return to the SCT semifinals.

Manasquan will host archrival Wall on Saturday in the semifinals.

 

Nondivisional

No. 8 Holmdel 15, Freehold Township 3

Senior attackman Kyle Kapcsos delivered four goals and one assist and senior attackman Evan Cohen tallied two goals and three assists to power the Hornets (12-6) to a victory over the Patriots (3-13).

Will Gilfillan added two goals and two assists, Jaden Gallo had a hat trick, Aidan Lagana totaled two goals and one assist, and Jared Battaglia contributed a goal and two assists. Dylan Lagana scored once, Jack Powers won 15 of 21 at the face-off X, and Matt Tempone picked up 10 ground balls. Andrew Arredondo (9 saves) and Casey Dowd (2 saves) shared time in goal.

 

Toms River East 8, Colts Neck 2

Junior midfielder Luke Barber totaled five goals and one assist to reach 100 career points and lead the Raiders (8-6) past the Cougars (5-11).

Noah Raimonde, Nick Medina, and Gabriel Lopez added one goal each and Lester Cook made six saves in goal to earn the win.

Dan O'Keefe made 11 saves for Colts Neck, which received goals from Jack Dodd and Henry Shell.

 

St. Rose 8, Marlboro 0

John Harold and Sean Lattimer each scored twice and Colin Westhoven supplied a goal and two assists while winning 11 of 12 face-offs to lead the way for the Purple Roses (11-6).

James Magrini and Dan Bair had a goal and an assist each and Mike Donlon scored once. Chris DeVoy and Cameron McManus combined to make three saves and post a shutout.

DJ Silvia made 10 saves and Patrick Xia made one save for Marlboro.

 

Jackson Liberty 16, Neptune 1

Sophomore attackman Paul Capozzi recorded a career-high nine points with five goals and four assists to send the Lions (7-10) to a win over the Scarlet Fliers (1-14).

Junior Billy Schuler also recorded a career-high in points with four goals and two assists. James Capuzzi added a goal and two assists while Mark Ossimina, Reese Stewart, and Connor D'Andrea each had a goal and an assist. D'Andrea also won 18 of 20 face-offs. Peter Abline, Joshua Friedman, and Thomas Rayside each scored once. Evan Canning (3 saves) and Matthew LaBianca (1 save) split time in goal.

Myles McGovern scored and Laens Bastain made 15 saves for Neptune.

 

Ocean 7, Donovan Catholic 3

Sophomore midfielder Ben Girard sank three goals and junior goalie Blaine Grayson made 21 saves to pilot the Spartans (5-13) to a victory over the Griffins (4-12).

Joey Campbell scored twice, Brent Shaflin had a goal and two assists, and Paul Morris scored once.

Jack Farlekas,  Randy Spurling, and Peyton Calvetto each scored once for Donovan Catholic. Andrew Baltus won 10 of 11 face-offs and Dermot Murphy made 11 saves.

 

St. John Vianney 10, Brick 2

Justin Kurc and Nick Wharton scored goals and Jason Glass made 10 saves for Brick (2-14).

St. John Vianney improved to 7-9.
