As the calendar flips to a new month and amazingly September 2020 is upon us, our friends over at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst are giving us locals the heads up for when we can expect things to get noisy over the next few weeks.

If you've lived in Ocean County, especially west of the Garden State Parkway, for even a little while, you're probably used to what some locals affectionately refer to as "the sound of freedom".

Or, to the uninitiated, training over at the Joint Base.

With exercises ranging from artillery training to explosive disposal training, the sound can travel pretty far at times.

So, that being said, the folks at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst put together a handy calendar of what we can expect for the month of September.

While we could get a good deal of moderate noise for the month, it looks like there will only be a few days where it could get really noisy.

It's always worth keeping in mind that the weather can have an impact on how far the noise carries, too, with cloudy days bringing the sounds further away than clear days.

If you hear loud bangs and explosions during the month of September 2020, stop back here first to see if it could just be our fine men and women in uniform sharpening their skill set.

You can always click here to follow Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst's official Facebook page to stay up to date with everything going on over there in the Pine Barrens.
