Toms River police are investigating a second robbery this week at an ATM.

A 19-year-old woman told authorities she was making a deposit at the Wells Fargo Bank at 1853 Hooper Avenue around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, when a man wearing a white ski mask, approached her from behind, put his hand on her waist and demanded she "Drop it!"

Police Department spokesman Ralph Stocco said the woman immediately dropped the cash and her bank card and fled to safety.

The woman said the masked suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and jeans and appeared to be about 6 feet tall, according to Stocco.

On Monday, police said a 68-year-old woman was robbed while making a transaction at the Bank of America on Route 37 west.

Police are urging residents to be aware of their surroundings at all times and to make diligent observations as they approach ATM machines, especially after normal business hours. Authorities suggest driving once around the building or parking lot before finally approaching the machines to complete transactions.

Anyone with information should call Toms River Police Detective Lou Santora at 732-349-0150 extension 1276.
