This Rumson Mansion Could Make Monmouth County Real Estate History
If buying a home in New Jersey feels expensive, you're not imagining it. A big reason prices stay high is that there just aren't enough homes for all the people looking to buy. When a good house hits the market, it often sells quickly and for more than the asking price.

New Jersey is also a popular place to live thanks to its location, strong job market, great schools, and the Jersey Shore. With demand staying strong and the number of homes for sale still limited, home prices continue to remain among the highest in the country.
In one Monmouth County town, they may have seen the highest-priced sale in Monmouth County history. According to a recent article from APP.com, there is a residence listed at $ 26 million in Rumson.
According to APP.com:
The estate sits on a 5.4-acre lot.
The main home has 12 bedrooms
Seven full bathrooms
Three half-bathrooms
Four fireplaces
An eight-car garage.
The guest house has four to five bedrooms
4½ bathrooms
The staff house has two bedrooms
Two bathrooms on the second floor.
The carriage house has two bedrooms and one bathroom.
So the property has 20 bedrooms and 14 1/2 bathrooms.
According to reports, this sale puts the property in "record" territory. "An oceanfront home at 17 Washington Ave. in Spring Lake sold for $25 million in 2025, in what was believed to be a record price in Monmouth County. A 33,000-square-foot mansion in Alpine sold for $27.5 million in 2022."
