The DOT has begun a railroad crossing rehabilitation project today that’ll run thru next Friday April 12.

It's a federally funded project that seeks to replace the railroad crossing with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches.

The project will close and detour parts of County Road in Aberdeen until work is completed.

Crews will be on site between 9:30 am and 7 pm each day.

Two-way traffic on County Road is scheduled to be closed and detoured between Cliffwood Avenue and Route 35 for work on the railroad grade crossing between Bayview Street and Kennedy Avenue.

Here are the detours now in place:

From County Road Eastbound:

  • Motorists wishing to turn onto County Road from Cliffwood Avenue will be directed to continue East on Cliffwood Avenue.
  • Turn left on Route 35 North.
  • Drive past County Road (no left turn is allowed).
  • Go through the traffic light at Raritan Road and take the jughandle to make a U-turn.
  • Turn left on Route 35 South.
  • Turn right onto County Road.

From County Road westbound (from Route 35):

  • Motorists wishing to turn onto County Road from Route 35 will be directed to turn onto Cliffwood Avenue Road westbound.
  • Turn right onto County Road.
