Queens man suffers significant head & spinal injuries in Lacey accident
A Queens resident is in critical condition at Jersey Shore University Medical Center after being involved in a Sunday afternoon motor vehicle collision in Lacey Township.
Lacey Township Police said they responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a dirt-bike shortly after 12:00 pm which occurred off-road, about 1.5 miles south of the intersection Lacey Road and Carriage Road.
Police said that the driver, 43-year-old Jose Perez, of Queens, New York, was traveling south along a trail, when he failed to negotiate a turn.
As a result, he lost control of the dirt bike and was thrown from it.
Perez sustained significant spinal and head injury as a result of the crash and was transported by helicopter to JSUMC where he remains in critical condition.
Lacey Township EMS, MONOC Paramedics as well as Forked River and Bamber Lakes Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
The Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit also responded to assist in the investigation.
