TRENTON — The Powerball jackpot is on the rise a day before Wednesday's drawing.

Due to strong ticket sales the annuity jackpot had risen by mid-Tuesday to an annuity value of $700 million with a cash value of $443.3 million.

"Multi-state lottery officials will review ticket sales again tomorrow to determine whether another jackpot increase is warranted," NJ Lottery spokeswoman Judy Drucker told New Jersey 101.5.

The jackpot stands as the second-highest jackpot ever offered by Powerball or Mega Millions, surpassed only by a $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot won in January 2016.

The Powerball jackpot has not been won since June 10.

A ticket worth $1 million was sold in New Jersey for last Saturday's drawingm which was held by four dog groomers working in Ridgewood. The group purchased 34 sets of numbers for the drawing. The four women said they would be paying off some bills and putting some away for savings.

Six tickets worth $50,000 each were also sold in New Jersey for last Saturday's drawing.
